Genva 2010: Koenigsegg Agera is the Swedish supercar evolved
Autoblog:
Talk about a super way to kick off the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. And yes, we intend the pun. We all know and love the Koenigsegg CCX, but it's getting a bit long in the tooth, at least as far as supercars go. Introduced to the world at large at (no surprise) 2006 Geneva Motor Show, the Swedish rocket has wowed enthusiasts for the past five years. But that was then-and in the case of biofuled, 1,100 horsepower monster CCXR, then was a few months ago-the Agera is now.
Here you go, have your cake and eat it too. Porsche is looking to prove that the best of both worlds don't have to be mutually exclusive with the 918 Spyder concept scheduled to debut tomorrow at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. Looking a bit like a Carrera GT evolved, the 918 Spyder is powered by both a 500-horsepower V8 and a pair of electric motors (one for each axle) producing an additional 218 hp or 160kW.
Jaguar to unveil faster, blacker XKR Special Edition in Geneva
Autoblog:
You know that cat? It's not only out of the bag, but the bag has been beaten, robbed and burned to a crisp. Translation: Jaguar is bringing a brawny, hopped-up version of its XKR to Geneva. Dubbed the XKR Special Edition, this Jag is actually a combo platter of two other XKR specials. Still with us? Good. Let's start with the first two. For 2011, the supercharged, 510-horsepower XKR will be available with a Speed Pack. What's it do? The Speed Pack raises the bad kitty's top speed from 155 mph to 174 mph (both speeds are electronically limited). Then there's the Black Pack that, besides being fun to say, is an appearance package for the already pretty good looking XKR. Should you opt for the Black Pack, you get gloss black 20-inch Kalimnos wheels, gloss black chrome grille and side vents, red brake calipers and a body-colored aero-kit. You can even go for an "XKR" graphic on the side sills (we'd advise against that last bit). Rather than calling the two combined packages "Black Speed," Jaguar is instead calling the whole megillah the XKR Special Edition. Until Geneva. Press Release
Bentley has dropped the details on its newest creation ahead of its unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show, and claims that it's produced the world's fastest four-seat convertible and the quickest drop-top Bentley in the automaker's history.
The 2011 Bentley Continental Supersports Convertible is the soft-top sibling to the marque's latest coupe, packing the same twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter W12 as the hard-top and putting out 621 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. Also like the fixed roof variant, the Supersports Convertible can run on either gasoline or E85, returning a 0-60 mph run of 3.9 seconds and a top speed on 202 mph no matter what fuel you choose to top up with.
Other carryovers include the all-wheel drive system and ZF-sourced six-speed automatic that sends power to four, 20-inch, 10-spoke wheels shod in high-performance Pirelli rubber (275/35Z R20). However, unlike the hard-top, the rear seats remain, along with carbon fiber buckets and matching trim, Alcantara and a host of interior amenities.
Bentley hasn't released pricing on the Supersports Convertible yet, but considering the coupe starts around $270,000, you and three friends can share the $300k tab when it goes on sale this summer. Press release after the jump.
WATCH out Ferrari – Pagani is developing a replacement for the Zonda! Caught testing in Italy, our spy photographers shot this prototype putting its new engine, advanced aerodynamics and totally fresh chassis through their paces. Dubbed C9, the newcomer gets a modified body, which features a new front end, redesigned rear quarter panels to allow for larger air inlets, a redesigned rear diffuser and a totally new air scoop that sticks up from the middle of the engine cover. Underneath lies a carbon-titanium chassis and forged aluminum alloy suspension components. Conceived as a totally new car in terms of weight distribution, materials and dynamics, according to company boss Horacio Pagani, the C9 is powered by an all-new engine too. Rumormill: Lamborghini LP570-4 SV headed to Geneva
Autoblog:
According to the Lamborghini lovers at the Teamspeed Forums, there's a new, even higher-performance version of the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 on the way to the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. No surprise, really, as the Gallardo's successor isn't expected until 2012 or so, and Lambo is always working on improving the breed.
Gemballa-tuned Enzo MIG-UI waiting for The Empire to strike back again
The black and white menace you see above was created for Gemballa's Middle East distributor, the Illyas and Mustafa Galadari Group, using Mustafa's personal Enzo as the subject. The roof scoop, jet-thruster-surrounds for the exhaust, and black rims are Gemballa hallmarks, on top of which the nose has been slightly sculpted and the hood sports a central scoop.
LA 2009: Spyker C8 Aileron Spyder proves the devil is in the details
Autoblog:
Where to even start? Oh right – that interior! With the possible exception of a couple of British-ish cars (BMW-owned Rolls-Royce Phantom, Volkswagen-owned Bentley Mulsanne, Tata-owned Jaguar XJ), no interior even comes close. And frankly, being honest, those luxo-barges just pale in comparison to the blinged out old-world splendor of a Spyker cockpit. And the C8 Aileron Spyder ups that already pricey ante. And get this – all C8's are now built in Coventry, England, shaving about $9,000 off the asking price, which is somewhere south of $200,000 depending on baubles options.
